Impressive collection, thanks for posting those so far. cheers

I'm with you on the Ocean Terminal one, nice image. Looks like either Franconia or Carmania remains alongside.

Isn't the new Ocean Terminal now on the opposite side (where the other Cunarder is)?

This is an usual shaped card that I have, probably half as wide again as normal postcard.

Some background on a couple of the postcards posted above:

This photo was taken on May 18, 1985. Bob Arnott, who retired in July 1985, was in command of QE2. Richard Thomas was the Red Arrows Team Leader in the lead plane (the one in the middle of the formation). The flight deck crew of Concorde consisted of David Macdonald, W.D. Lowe and a gent whose signature I cannot read. The Red Arrows Team sold a large special edition print of this photo, signed by all of the participants, to raise money for childrens' charities a couple of years later and I was fortunate enough to get one.

This photo was taken in 1983, between the time the light grey hull was repainted black in June and September 26 when the starboard davit for one of QE2's new tenders was installed in Southampton. The empty davit was quite visible after this date. The port side davit was installed on October 8, also in Southampton.

I believe that the photo of QE2 at anchor with the blue boot topping that is shown in the first post in this thread was taken in 1979 on either QE2's Caribbean cruise that departed New York on October 27, or on the "Boston Cruise" to the Caribbean that followed.

There appears to be a gap in the bow where the stem ought to be. That gap was there only from October 7 when the anchor was removed in New York until QE2's 1979 refit at the end of the year. Between October 7 and the October 27 cruise mentioned above QE2 docked at all ports of call: New York, Southampton, Funchal, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Vigo, Southampton, Cherbourg and New York.
