The Come By Chance charter took place in October 1973, she was chartered by Shaheen, the oil man.The ship sailed from New York to Halifax, Nova Scotia

The ship was chartered by the Newfoundland Refining Company whose chairman was John H Shaheen.

QE2 arrived Placentia Bay, Come By Chance, Newfoundland, she berthed at the pier of the NRC which was soon to be the terminal for the supertankers of the day.

As a footnote the company went bust in 1976 causing one of the single largest bankruptcies in Canadian history to that date. It also greatly added to Newfoundland and Labrador’s mounting public debt.

This charter also saw QE2 make her maiden call at Halifax, Nova Scotia.
