In May 1972 Captain Law announces to the crew and passengers that information had been received concerning a threat of a bomb explosion on board the ship and during that particular voyage. A special forces team comprising of members of the UK SAS & SBS parachuted down to the ship when she was approximately 740 miles east of Cape Race, Newfoundland.

No device was ever located and the incident a hoax, created by a then New York shoe salesman.

The incident did spark the inevitable Hollywood follow-up "Juggernaut" starring the late Richard Harris.

I was there I was the duty engineer that was with the launch that picked up the parachutists.

I was on board during the time of the bomb hoax. A facimile version of the daily London newspapers where usually distributed but it was decided that the days newspaper should not be distributed to avaid panic. I obtained a copy from the print room and asked captian Law and other ships officers to sign it. See attachement
